Rita began her dive into the deep ocean of the Vedic Sciences of India over twenty years ago in Southern California. As a devoted student of Yoga, she enriched her practice further and in 1995 began the 3 year intensive teacher training at the Iyengar Yoga Center of La Mesa with Gloria Goldberg, Carolyn Belko, and Manouso Manos. A trip to Pune India soon followed her certification completion in 1998 to study and to celebrate the 80th birthday celebration of yoga Guru B.K.S. Iyengar.
While in Pune, it was an unforgettable exposure of the healing art of Ayurveda with the Iyengar family that inspired her to become a Clinical Ayurvedic and Pancha Karma Specialist. After moving to San Francisco in 1998 she began teaching weekly yoga classes while continuing her studies. In the fall of 2001, she was awarded dual certification from the California College of Ayurvedic Medicine and The Vedic Institute of New Mexico.
The depth of the Vedic Sciences led her to dive even deeper into the art of Jyotisha (Vedic Astrology). With a focus on medical astrology, she began her studies at the Vedic Vidya Institute in 2003 with renowned Vedic scholar and author Hart de Fouw. Under the teachings of Guru Krishan Mantri-ji, Rita has continued her studies over the past dozen years in the related subjects of Jyotisha (Vedic astrology), Ayurveda, Vastu (Architecture and Design), Sanskrit, and the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
A Yoga teacher and a devoted student in the Iyengar Tradition for over twenty years, she continues her studies of Sanskrit, Sutras, Mantras, and is currently enrolled in a three year Iyengar Yoga Therapeutics Training program with Manouso Manos.
Rita’s extensive knowledge as a Vedic Specialist assists her clients and yoga students to walk their path toward health and spiritual peace.
